Job Description


Perform the Inventory Management activities of this $100M+ business with multiple locations in the US.  The Inventory Manager is responsible for the movement of materials and storage of those items within Hynes facilities, and the tracking & control of inventory at outside locations (vendor/providers and outside processors), in all cases taking steps to ensure materials are protected from damage and stored in appropriate and pre-defined storage locations.  Proactively identify and determine disposition of low volume and potentially obsolete materials (eq. movement to low volume locations within plant, repurpose, resell, etc.).  The Inventory Manager is responsible for identifying fast / intermediate / slow moving inventory within each location and reporting those items to the Supply Chain Director to determine next steps.  The Inventory Manager must provide guidance to the Material Handlers to ensure that product is stored in the correct locations and material movement is based on a first-in first–out priority.  In addition, all materials must be tagged for identification and heat-tracking / certification purposes.


•        Develop, lead, and execute all activities needed to control inventory and material movement

•        Establish material storage locations and maintain proper signage

•        Track and report key functional metrics on inventory valuation, turns, movement

•        Reduce inventory damage - provide guidance to the Material Handlers on proper storage of coils and finished goods

•        Monitor the tagging (labeling) of all products from raw material to WIP through finished goods

•        Assess product movement based on first-in and first-out strategies

•        Identify slow moving or obsolete materials

Job Requirements


•        3-5 years of experience with management of direct materials, ideally within a metals / metals fabrication manufacturing facility

•        BS degree in supply chain management, inventory management or related field

•        APICS, CPIM certification preferred

•        Excellent communication skills and the leadership ability to drive teams and change

•        Experience with ERP systems - inventory management

•        Continuous improvement/lean/six sigma experience

•        Collaborative skills in resolving issues

•        Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
